PEARLS OF
WISDOM
from Mary C.
Crowley (Andy Horner's
Mentor)
This week's
message comes from the great Mary C. Crowley, direct sales pioneer and founder
of Home Interiors & Gifts, Inc. Mary believed
that people come to home shows to be lifted up. "There is so much negative
thinking in the news that people absorb it," she said. "Remember, we must
constantly remind ourselves of our four loves in this business":
"1. Love of
things beautiful [our products and how they impact others];
2. Love of
people - all kinds, from the sweet to the sour;
3. Love of learning - for
we are continually learning in this business; 4. Love of
work -- for this business is work. Everything worthwhile is work."
Mary built her
company on the belief that you have to work to bring about success. It isn't
enough to want it, you have to be daring! While many people sit back and wait
for something good to happen to them and wonder why it never does, Mary believed
in 10 two-letter words: "If it is to be, it is up to me."
Mary was also
a strong goal setter. While many people believe it is better to set their goals
low so that they won't fail, Mary taught, "Set your goals high and fail if you
have to. Daring generates excitement; excitement generates enthusiasm; and
enthusiasm generates energy. The priceless gift of self-confidence must come
from within." This week,
remember these profound pearls of wisdom from one of the greatest party-plan
founders of all time!
